About the Artist: Zush, Evru, (Alberto Porta 1946 – 1968) (known as Zush since 1968 and Evru since 2001) is visual artist born as Alberto Porta (1946, Barcelona, Spain). He is a self-taught painter and designer. In 1968 the artist Albert Porta transformed himself into Zush and created a body of work that formed a parallel world which he called ‘Evrugo Mental State’. This world is set up as a state: a territory with its own flag, a passport for its citizens, and even a language. The iconography that permeates his work develops organically from biographical and anatomical elements, such as eyes, vital organs, fire, water and so on. During the exhibition [ZUSH. TECURA] at MACBA, in 2001, he adopts for the second time, a new heteronym as EVRU – the name composed of the first four letters from his conceptual creation, Evrugo Mental State (1968)– by means of digital technology and multimedia representation Zush gave path for Evru to emerge from his own ashes, on February 23, 2001. Evru was born in 2001 as the second ‘reincarnation’ of Albert Porta (Barcelona, 1946), following the demise of his predecessor, Zush. In 1975 he was awarded a fellowship by the Juan March Foundation to study holography at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston, and in the 1980s he began to apply digital technology in his work. His digital work is based on a concept that he came up with himself: the PsychoManualDigital. From that point on, he sought to make his work as interactive as possible and emphasise the role of the viewer. His artistic practice combines two seemingly opposed elements: craftsmanship and technology. His output includes physical and mental maps, videos and performances that expand into systems, as in the case of Untitled (1992–1994). Under the name of Evru, he developed a very diversified set of work. It sits between a very personal surrealist iconography and a form of cyborg aesthetic. Besides traditional works on paper, canvas and wood, he also produces large formats of digital photos and innovative digital works in the field of computer aided design (CAD). Evru recently developed a computer program for digital painting called Tecura. Check out our store: https://www.ebay.com/str/geendantreasures 100% Guaranteed to be as described.
