They bloom May-June. ONE (1) BARE-ROOT/PLANT BUD PER ORDER. These Yellow Lady-Slippers bloom and expand for 30-40 years so each one is a great investment. Yellow Lady-Slippers have a fairly unique symbiotic relationship with mycorrhizal fungi you'll find them easy to grow. They naturally have mycorrhizal fungi on the roots and in the small amount of soil sent with the order. At this price, these delightful, extra large blossom-size orchids are selling at a steeply discounted price. Prices are below all market prices for these large roots. They are a long term investment. Since the roots grow laterally a few inches underground (the crown and the outstretched rhizomes look tarantula-like ... these are big roots), you can easily pry them up and take them along, if you move! They were not sprouted in a petri dish, nor are they hybrids or clones like many that are advertised for sale. I have cared for them for many years (they sprouted naturally in my ginseng garden beds years ago and became abundant), therefore the roots will be of large size, packed with energy for the spring bloom. I am licensed to sell native Yellow Lady-Slipper in all states. Each group of Yellow Lady-Slippers that you plant starts a genetic repository of your very own U.S.A. terrestrial orchid. You will also receive planting instructions. The Yellow Lady Slippers are deciduous/perennial and will sprout and grow to full-size in the spring. I grow much larger, natural roots than other sellers, so you will not have to wait years for blossoms from spindly rootlets. $40-$100 per plant is the normal price for this species listed by online nurseries and offline nurseries, and the roots, and plants, are really quite small. I use good conservation practices on family land by moving older plants to reduce competition for younger plants. The Yellow Lady-Slipper has amazing longevity & can bloom for decades on 18"-26" tall stems! Plant in good soil that is slightly moist to slightly dry. They are excellent partial-shade flora around a deck, or on the north side of a house, as well as under trees.
