Description: This original photo is from a collection of photos from a soldier named Jim who served in World War II with the 125th Radio Intelligence Co, 41st Division. They were responsible for intercepting, analyzing, and decoding enemy communications. Jim's photos span the period of 1944-1945. All photos appear to have been taken by him or his friends, and very well could be one of a kind images. Some have stamps on their backs showing they were cleared by military censors, and others appear to have been developed in the U.S. after the war. Type & Size: A 3x4.5 original photograph. Condition: Good to fair condition. Some of these images have dented edges or missing corners from age and their prior life in a 1940s scrapbook. Please see photos. A soldier poses at a beach in Okinawa in 1945. He stands confidently, wearing only swim trunks and boots, with a playful expression as he sticks out his tongue. The background features a tall tree and a partially constructed structure which suggests a military encampment or recreational area. This photograph captures a candid moment while also reflecting the surroundings typical of Pacific islands during this period of World War II. The Battle of Okinawa was one of the last major confrontations in the Pacific theater, lasting from April to June 1945. It involved fierce combat and significant loss on both sides, making it a pivotal moment in the war. Post-battle, many U.S. troops experienced lighter moments, using rare downtime to relax at the beautiful beaches of Okinawa. The island served as a crucial base for Allied forces leading toward the eventual invasion of the Japanese mainland. Okinawa 1945
