III bolt action rifle Pattern 1907 bayonet and scabbard. It was made in 1919. This also comes with a metal and leather scabbard. Overall, this bayonet is in Very Good - Very Good Plus condition, considering its age. The press catch is functional with stiff spring tension. Both the pommel and guard are securely fastened to the tang. They have light impact marks, scrapes and oxidation. The two screw escutcheons securely fasten the wood grips to the tang. They have light oxidation and semi-strong slots - due to the grease inside them. The wood panels have compressions and draglines. The wood has darkened with age. The spine, fullers and sides have light handling marks with scattered discoloration. There are scattered nicks and dings on the blade. There are light scrapes on the edge, but also on the the sides so it is difficult to evaluate if it has its original factory edge. The tip is intact and comes to a dull straight point. Most of the remaining finish is in the white. The left ricasso is marked "1907 / 18 / Wilkinson" and the right ricasso is marked with the British broad arrow. The left wood grip panel is marked "AUSTRALIA". The leather/metal scabbard is in Good - Very Good condition, considering its age. The locket and chape are both securely attached to the leather body. They have a very very very light wiggle, it is almost not worth mentioning. The leather appears to not have shrunk much. The locket and chape both have light scrapes, scratches and oxidation. The frog stud is securely attached. The leather body has no rips or tears and the stitching is sewn tightly. Most of the finish is still remaining. There are no visible markings. This bayonet and scabbard will be a great addition to your British / Australian WWI rifle, or a bayonet collection in general.
