Description: WW2 THEATER KNIFE MADE BY JOHN KOLESAR -US NAVY-NAME ETCHED ON SIDES . Condition is Used. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.....FREE. ______________________________ This is a WW2 theater knife made by JOHN KOLESAR. He was in the US NAVY during WW2 and etched his name on both sides of the blade. It’s very rare to have a signature etched on the blade of a knife made on board a navy ship. Most were made to sell and taken into combat. While bayonets were issued with rifles most MARINES found personal knives by purchase or trade. . The business of knife making was created because our country could not supply much need weapons. ______________ The blade is welded by the base to the guard. See pictures 9,10, and 11. No sheath. The knife was made in a navy machine shop using parts found on board. ___________________ CONDITION: Very good overall. The handle remains in excellent condition. The blade has scratches.....dings.....and discoloration. ____________________ I purchased this knife approximately (10) years ago at a military show in Fort Lauderdale Florida. JOHN KOLESAR passed away May 31, 2019. See picture # 12. ____________________ Free priority shipping In a priority box with tracking number and insurance Email confirmation
