Reproduction: The 1942 suit was short-lived and only saw very limited issue. It was superseded from 1943 by the heavy, Oversuit, Tank Crews, more commonly known as the 'pixie suit'. This suit drew on improvements gleaned from the use of the 1942 pattern, but also ignored some of its best points. Of a similar tan canvas fabric, the suit was lined throughout with khaki blanket material and much importance was placed on storage space, with no less than seven external pockets. Two full length zips running from the throat, down the chest and along each leg, allowed for easy donning and removal and also allowed ease of access to dress wounds should the need occur. The suit was heavy and tiring to wear, and in an effort to evenly re-distribute some of the weight an internal brace assembly ran from the waist through internal channels over the shoulders; these braces were frequently removed as was the somewhat superfluous waist belt. The suit came with a detachable hood attached using five press-studs, frequently used it could be closed around the face by the use of a drawstring and button-across flap. An identical suit, Oversuit, Tank Crews, Camouflaged, was produced towards the end of the War. Other than the camouflage finish the suit was the same as the tan Oversuit Tank Crews, but it saw only limited issue. Measurements from Army size labels: Size 1.
