Description: Only markings found: Rear Center Brim: ZA33 WW1 "Doughboy" m1917 US Enlisted GI issued helmet. Condition issues are as follows. (See pictures for the best description of them all. -Missing/Torn Chinstraps. This means D rings are present, strap is not. -Minor/Minor Dent mid front center, halfway between front and center. Again very minor. But it's there. Why I think it's even a more bad ass, dare I say, artifact. -Liner Stinks, is degraded and shows obvious signs of use. -Paint/Finish pretty standard of any helmet I've seen go to war and come back. Except for 1 key element. The gentlemen I picked this up from, this was stored in his climate controlled house and the man before did the same. It's super clean and rust free. Now I don't know a ton, but I do a little. Ive found, bought and resold 3 Brodie's in my years doing this, but never the always as I was told more common Doughboy or M1917 Helmet. An atrocious piece of metal. It's so small. Like zero coverage, sides wide open. Poor guys. Kids actually. Only people stupid enough to believe their tales of war. Got it from a gentleman, 65 , locally that lives near me. He came into possession of it after his wife's grandfather, who was a drafted service member during the 1st World War. Just crazy to think what would happen if a draft was enacted in current times. It was a lot easier to get a bunch of young men excited and geared up to go to war when it was glamorized and we, the public more than anything , knew little of the true horrors of war. Control what the people see and what they hear, what other factors are a person to formulate their assumptions or theories or beliefs or whatever they are upon. I've done a fair amount of research on this helmet. It's definitely a real McCoy. No doubt about it. There is even a dead fly in the liner to boot. It is, in my personal and professional option(I'm an eBay seller, so with a grain of salt you take that with I mind you, hehe)...insert humor.. Makers Marks. Company. Lot. It's so much. But there are pics that, again, describe better than I can within this listing. Please confer. If you have ?s. Just ask. But I'm pretty sure all the info you need should be found within. Appreciate your time, been fun.
