The Memphis Belle was the first aircraft in the 8th Air Force to complete 25 missions without a crew member being killed. In that time 80% of the unit were shot down. In the 8th Air Force the pilot was in the 91st Bomb Group, 324th squadron. After doing a long US war bond tour with the aircraft the pilot of this memoir he re-trained on B-29s In the Pacific he was in the 20th Air Force, 497th Bomb Group, 869th squadron and his plane was called Dauntless Dotty after his new girlfriend-soon to be wife. He saw 26 more missions in a B-29 starting late October 1944 and ending in early April 1945. He was on the famous March 9 1945 Tokyo fire Raid mission.
