White's Surfmaster Waterproof V.L.F. Metal Detector Dive or Land Treasure Hunt!

(This is not a Surf PI, it is a) (Very Low Frequency unit, recommended for fresh water) ULTIMATE MULTI-PURPOSE TREASURE FINDER! I have been a metal detector dealer since the late 1960's and I can assure you that this detector is working correctly in every way. I am not a mail-order joint who is using 5 different names . . . because I am in-hiding! This is not a pawn shop, or an estate sale, I live and breath metal detectors! When I say it works 'correct' . . . . you can bank on it! This is a waterproof detector that can be used on the beach, at the ghost town, park, school; "Or, even dive down to 100 feet under the surf!" Because this machine is VLF technology, it works in fresh or salt water. However, the Surfmaster II (V.L.F.) detectors are preferred for fresh water hunting where large amounts of small iron trash such as nails, hairpins and sparkler wires are present. PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS NOT A, "P.I." MACHINE, IT IS . . . . . 'V.L.F.' Very Low Frequency, Ground Cancel, Motion Discrimination which is different technology. (The Surf PI goes nuts for linear shaped iron this one will not!) I will never understand how corporate minds work. Whites stopped making this detector by replacing it with a larger detector that was far more costly and NOT able to go underwater as deep. Several of my Surfmaster II customers picked up new, spare-machines as soon as they learned this model was being replaced! Today a Surfmaster II in this condition, are very nearly impossible to find! THIS DETECTOR IS IN SHARP CONDITION! Well it is now. I had one of these same detectors posted in my E-Bay store earlier in September. Some nice folks drove for 250 miles to buy it, and I ended up with this unit in trade. . . it wasn't working at the time, but, it had a long record of success at finding LOTS of underwater treasure! This Surf-II was one of the first of the Surfmaster II models which followed the first generation of Surfmasters. The original Surfmasters had some small room for improvement. Whites also found that the hand formed heavy bullet proof plexiglass lid they were using was too costly and labor intensive, so they developed a new injection molded plastic lid. This new lid was made so if you laid it on a flat surface it was flat. But, often the corners would not seal! Surprisingly, the scuba divers had no trouble with it. This was because with the pressure while diving would seal the lid tight. It was the shallow water user who had leak problems. So, Whites built a whole new lid-mold, that I call the potato chip lid. This new design, when laid on a flat surface bows up in the center, so when the lid is clamped in place, additional pressure is placed on the corners . . . . problem solved. This unit has a brand new style lid! I replaced the two water-tight stem-packed control devices, one for on-off sensitivity 10-k, and one for discrimination 100-k value. These "pots" are selling for over $35.00 each today! It has the new lid, new pots and new seals! This new build was pressure tested for 48 hours with no leaks! WATER PROOF to 100 feet deep! The Surfmaster II Plus, may be swept either quickly or slowly with virtually no loss in sensitivity. It is designed to be more sensitive to gold and copper-nickel alloys. The lower box is Original & Tested! The clear lid is Brand New The upper stem (S-rod) is Original The lower rod is Original The coil hardware is Original New Comfort Rubber Hand Grip New (updated) Hollow Lid Gasket Even with normal condensation, many of these units will show some degree of oxidation on the tuners or the circuit board plugs. The way to avoid that is to open the lid and let the inside air dry when you get home from your dive.. It is the now the "PLUS" model, so, it has the newer bowed "potato-chip" lid which gives a strong corner seal! Also, I used the latest, new, hollow core rubber gasket. The search coil is good condition and it has a protective coil cover. No Cracks, Very Sensitive to Small Gold Jewelry! Opened it up, checking for leaks, and I am reminded of two of my dad's favorite quips; "Dry as a bone and slick as a whistle!"
