Kingsley CharlesPublished by George Routledge & Sons, London (1897) Bound in full blue leather prize binding of Haverfordwest Grammar School, with gilt emblem to the front and rear covers, edged in gilt, with banded spine and red morocco spine label. Some minor scuffing to the spine and extremities. Gilt inner dentelles. Closed edges marbled, faded, with matching endpapers. 591pp. Pages generally in good order, with some light age toning. First published in 1855. Historical novel. The novel was based on the experiences of Elizabethan privateer Amyas Preston, who sets sail with Francis Drake, Walter Raleigh and other privateers to the New World, namely the Preston Somers Expedition and Raleigh's El Dorado Expedition where they battle with the Spanish.
