Description: Ultra rare Western Electric Type 19A aircraft base station Transmitter. This is extremely uncommon set, so much so, that is is the only one I have seen or heard of. I've been avidly collecting radios and related and go to numerous shows and auctions for nearly 30 years, and never seen another one of these. I bought it together many years ago with the 20A receiver that it matches with. The 20A receiver was sold recently and I had forgotten that I bought this 19A transmitter along with it years ago. This set is quite historically significant, since the 19A Transmitter and the 20A receiver is the model Amelia Earhart was using on her ill-fated final flight. She had chosen the model 20A because the units's small size and light weight, making it ideal for a long trip where the cockpit was quite small and fuel conservation was very important. The 19A Transmitter was the companion the the 20A receiver, and was equally compact of small size and lightweight. Condition of unit is very good. It appears to be all original. The front panel could use a good cleaning but that's about it. The unit would have used a special power supply which I don't have so I'm unable to test it. It is being sold for historical and or collecting purposes only. This is very likely the only time you'll ever see this. Highly unlikely you'll never see another one. I haven't seen another one in over 30 years. Don't miss out. Dimensions approx 9" x 9" x 6"
