Description: Vintage Hamilton Advertising Ashtray for the old Wentworth Arms Hotel in Hamilton Ontario Canada. The ashtray is pottery made by the Hamilton ON pottery eCanada. The pottery was started by an English immigrant who was a former employee of Wedgewood. The ECanada pottery strongly resembles Wedgewood and rightly earned its nickname as the Canadian Wedgewood. Strong incised markings on the bottom of the ashtray. Small chip at tips of hotel emblem and the name banner. Please see photos and zoom for condition. One photo has a Miller beer bottle cap on the side to provide perspective. I peg this as c. 1950 in the latter years of the Hotel's 75 year run. Sadly the Hotel at Hughson and Main St was destroyed in a tragic 1976 fire where 6 people lost their lives. See my other vintage Hamilton hotel listing. Combined shipping available.
