Description: The G.M.V. "Aramoana" and "Aranui" at Wellington, New Zealand. These sister ships of the New Zealand Railways are popular roll on, roll off vessels which act as a bridge over Cook Strait between Wellington and Picton, a distance of more than 50 miles. The "Aramoana" began in 1962, then was joined by the "Aranui" in 1966. Both ships are of similar design, built specially to meet the turbulent conditions which can spring up suddenly in these waters. Travelers are assured of a comfortable journey by this modern method of transport. The approximate 4 x 6 inch card is in good condition, scratches & dings, aging and writing on the back, with wear on the top and corners.
