Description: Weller Pottery Louwelsa Vase, Pillsbury, Brown Standard Glaze with Violets Small squat cabinet vase with two rounded handles. Hand painted yellow and purple violets, artist signed. Louwelsa was Weller's version of "standard glaze", a dark brown glossy glaze with hand painted decoration. 1896-1924.Condition: Some scratches to glaze, most noticeable on the back side; fine overall crazing. No chips, cracks or repairs. Glaze skip and extra bits of clay on inside, not visible when displayed. Marks: Artist initials near handle, possibly HP for Hester Pillsbury. Faint die impressed Weller Louwelsa, hand incised T W, III.
