Description: Wedgwood Cup & Saucer Multicolor Floral Garland #R4537 Mirabelle Gold 1976-1998 Exquisite Decorative WEDGWOOD CUP & SAUCER pattern #R4537 Mirabelle, from England in 1976-1998 DESCRIPTION: This is a beautiful cup & saucer in the Mirabelle pattern, #R4537. The garlands are formed of a variety of spring flowers in many colors. The rims, foot and handle are trimmed gold. The floral sprays are bright and cheerfully multi-colored on the high white porcelain. CONDITION: The condition of this decorative set is superb, even though it is classified as used. This would make great display set or a functional set to use everyday. We can find no manufacturing defects or damage. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, scratches, rubbings or hairlines. Please refer to the photos to see how classically beautiful this is. DIMENSIONS: The cup has a diameter of 3 1/4" and a height of 2 5/8". The saucer has a diameter of 5 3/4" with a height of 15/16". HISTORY/MARKS: Josiah Wedgwood (1730-1795) founded his company in 1759 at the Ivy House Works in Burslem, Staffordshire, England. He constructed the Etruria Works opening a modern factory in 1769. The company was continued by his sons and other relatives and descendants. Josiah Wedgwood & Sons, Ltd. became a public company in 1940. In 1967 it was listed on the London Stock Exchange with the chairman of the company, Josiah Wedgwood, being the great-great-great grandson of the founder. In 1989, the company was part of the Waterford Wedgwood Plc. By March 2009, KPS Capital Partners had placed Wedgwood into a group of companies known as WWRD (Waterford Wedgwood Royal Doulton). On 2 July 2015, the acquisition of WWRD by Fiskars Corporation, a Finnish maker of home products, was completed including the brands Waterford, Wedgwood, Royal Doulton, Royal Albert and Rogaška. The acquisition was approved by the US antitrust authorities. The set has the mark cited in Geoffrey A. Godden's Encyclopaedia of British Pottery and Porcelain Marks as mark #4098 used starting in 1962. However, the pattern was produced 1976-1998.
