Description: This painting is one of a number of paintings by Wally (James W.) Barnette (1943-2009), (as well as other artists) which I purchased from the Hunt House Estate in Glen Gardner, NJ. The estate contents had belonged to Barnette and his long-time partner. Barnette had owned Gallery 31 North onsite at this location. Trained at Ringling Brothers School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida after growing up in South Carolina, he moved to New Jersey in 1974 and for decades was a dedicated professional artist as well as a collector and art gallery proprietor. This particular painting is an unsigned, unframed portrait of a young man deep in thought. It is consistent with the Barnette signed paintings that I purchased with it and are on this site as well. CONDITION: The painting is in good used condition. The edges are dirty. The back has light foxing. It could possibly use a light professional cleaning. It has wear consistent with age and usage.
