This quality door knocker was manufactured in the 1970s by the vintage Danish brass Maker Axel Hasselstrøm A/S. It is made out of solid, high quality heavy Danish-made brass. This is not the lightweight, thin, low-quality brass that comes from places like India, China, Mexico and Pakistan. See the Danish flag tag that says "Messing" Messing is Danish for brass. Door knocker has an aged brass finish with some antiquing to it. Features an ornate and elegant scroll pattern. The curved handle strikes on a heavy shield to make a deep resounding knocking sound. Approximate Measurements: 4 Inches Tall2-5/8 Inches Wide, at widest pointsand Handle Protrudes About 1.5 Inches (Deep) HEAVY FOR ITS SIZE, it weighs 8.9 Ounces, UNPACKED Has two SMALL holes on mounting bracket. MOUNTING SCREWS NOT INCLUDED. I would recommend using appropriately long brass screws to support the weight of the door knocker. HISTORY: What a find! Imported from Denmark directly by my parents, who were importers.
