Vintage Yamaha 6310Z Trumpet Bobby Shew Model

Description: Bobby Shew is a players player and a clinicians clinician, and one of the most influential trumpet teachers of the past four decades. The Yamaha 6310Z was one of the most popular and best-playing medium bore designs ever. First introduced in 1994 and produced for about a decade. Ive heard players say that say they regret selling their 6310Z. I can see why. It has great projection as well as feedback to the player. For fiery upper register playing, its got the sizzle built in, but it can be darkened by a good player for a more intimate sound. The basic specs: One-piece yellow brass 127mm / 5" bell Reverse tuning slide Medium step-bore 11.3mm / 0.445" Monel pistons with brass valve guides Reeves alignment Made in Japan The serial number on this horn appears to date to about the mid to late 1990s. This horn has been in the rotation of a working local pro, and had been well maintained (by Robb Stewart) since he first acquired it. Lacquer wear at the usual points. Gold brass mouthpipe shows no signs of red rot, but there is little bit in the tuning slide. Some scratches in the lacquer but nothing serious. No dents. The valves are smooth and quiet, with great compression. The slides all move freely and appropriately. This horn sings! The G above high C felt pretty easy. Anyway, this horn is a player!
