There is some gentle wear on the original stain that I left in place as some like the worn, rustic look. The ribbon latches are in great condition with no frays. I polished the box with wood conditioner/furniture polish. The nail holes to fasten the box together can be seen. There is also remnants of wood putty that is visible around the areas of the curved molding which gives this a wonderful, handmade and rustic feel.
