Vintage Vista Alegre Portugal Mottaheddeh Floe Blue Butterfly Small Dish RARE

Description: This item is from the living estate of a collector for over 70 years of random things. Thus her seller's name, Pack Rat's Nest, which was bestowed upon her by her children. She has finally decided to divest of her many treasures so her children don't have to deal with it when she has transitioned on to her reward! All items will be described as best possible; they will be sold as is. This vintage Vista Alegre Portugal 1824-1974 Mottahedeh Floe Blue small dish with a scalloped-type design is a gorgeous piece. It is excellent condition with only one small nick in it. See photo for detail. It is about the size of a new born baby's pinky fingernail. It would not be seen if turned to the back while on display. Vista Alegre is one of the internationally most renowned Portugese brands. They are famous for their tableware, home decor, giftware,and hotelware, often created in collaboration with many famous artists and designers. Located near the town of Ilhavo, was the first industrial manufacturer dedicated to producing porcelain in Portugal. Jose Ferreira Pinto Basto built the Fabrica de Porcelana de Vista Alegre in 1824, where he developed a pretty Portuguese village instead of just a factory. The management had the philosophy to connect the workers' lives to the factory in all ways possible.The men did the physical labor of working in the ovens and carrying wood, while the women painted and wrapped the porcelain pieces. They met each other on the grounds and often married. There were houses on the property for them to start their families, a chapel, kindergarten, school, playground, cinema, theatre, and even their own fire department and soccer team. They had a special annual holiday, the first of July, when the Portuguese king granted permission in 1824 to build the factory. To this day, the Vista Alegre Festival is still celebrated every July.
