Description: Many years ago in 1974 while living in San Francisco I met Eric Lansdown, a very talented artist. At that time Eric saw my Chinchilla pets in a small cage and he suggested that he make a much larger, beautiful cage and here the cage is in the photos. This was one of the first of his cages. Since 1973, Eric Lansdown has been creating one of a kind doll houses and bird cages inspired by historic architecture. His works have been featured in countless publications and placed in hotels, opera houses and many galleries around the world. One of the magazine publications I found is shown in the last photo. This work of art has been quite a conversational piece and stored carefully in the last 15 years. The cage would also be great for parrots or birds as well as rodents such as chinchillas, etc. The droppings tray underneath was protected with plastic and is in excellent condition without issues. The condition is very good other than some of the nibbles by the chinchillas over 50 years ago shown in the photos that add charm or can be hidden with a touch up. The two doors need work or rebuilding which is not complex by someone handy with wood. There is a door in the front and a door in the back. There is a metal that can be seen in the photos that was woven around the cage edging hear the roof. It can taken away easily, it was put there to protect the wood. THE TOP ROOF WITH CAGING LIFTS OFF OF THE CAGE. IT WAS MADE THIS WAY FOR CLEANING. There are two metal flags that attach to the sub-roof portion of the cage. One flag for the front of the cage and one flag for the back. They were also designed and made by Eric and are still in excellent condition. I will add a photo of these flags. Eric Lansdown has a wonderful website showing his history, works of art from dollhouses to cages, etc. This cage stands approximately 70 inches tall including the legs by 38.5 inches long by 24.5 inches wide on the sides. The price does not include shipping by the seller. The buyer can pick-up the cage at the seller’s address in Malibu, CA, or arrange for their own shipping service to pick it up. Payment for this cage would be at the time of pick-up. It would need to be cash or cashier check only. Please feel free to ask any questions. Thank you for looking!
