These wonderful un-used seed packets were salvaged from the Schmidt Lithography Co. in San Francisco when the building was converted to apartments in 2017. Amongst the stored items dating back as far as the 1940’s were a consignment made for the Lone Star Seed Company. Sleek black beveled wooden frame with black backing makes a true statement and makes the wonderful vibrancy of the artwork stand out on any wall. These have been lovingly float mounted and framed by hand in my Cotswold workshop and come ready to hang, you just need a nail, pin or screw in the wall to pop it on. Size: (Portrait) 220mm tall 172mm wide 20mm deep History: Schmidt Lithograph Company was founded in 1872 by German immigrant Max Schmidt in San Francisco. It became a prominent printing company in the western United States, particularly in the production of labels for fruit and other products. By the turn of the 20th century, it had built a three-story headquarters and printing plant but this building was destroyed in the fire that followed the 1906 earthquake. in 1907 the company built a new plant on the same site, with an additional 6-story brick building with clock tower in 1921 that still exists today as a historic landmark. Schmidt eventually consolidated with Traung and Stecher to become Stecher-Traung-Schmidt, printing seed packets well into the 1980s.
