So much fun! and Easy! How about a sweet rick rack finished edge? Adjust the edge guide to the left and the attachment for straight stitching (explained further down). Rick rack in slot 3 and folded fabric edge in slot 2. ~CordingThe built in cording guide allows the machinist to embellish their project and create a one of a kind finish. Use yarn, pearled crotchet cotton, gimp or any small trim which will fit the cording guide. 1 mm satin rat tail is used to demonstrate the cording feature. ~~~The adjustable edge guide fastens to the attachment foot using the built in tiny screw. Adjusting the guide left or right determines how close to the edge the needle stitches. An accurate adjustment can be the difference between stitching layers securely or missing a fabric layer.Adjusted to the right by loosening the screw and moving the edge guide to the right (red arrow below) and re-tightened. Adjusted to the left (red arrow below). The stitch width is adjusted using this screw on the back of the zigzag attachment. While attached to the presser bar, gently turn it left for wider zigzag stitches and right for narrow zigzag stitches. Switching from zigzag stitching to straight stitching is performed by moving this lever. Out for zigzag stitching (red arrow below). ~~~In for straight stitching (red arrow). Switching from zigzag stitch to straight stitch can be performed with the attachment on the machine. However, following this guideline will keep your delicate zigzag treasure from being damaged.Let's start with showing you a little about how the zigzag foot moves and why it is important to not interfere with the wire springs (red arrow below) which are essential to the workings. These springs hold tension against the long pawls, on the other side of the attachment, which shift forward and back moving the foot side to side. If they are bent, rusted through or missing, the zigzag attachment will not work. The long pawls are controlled by the driving arm which straddles the needle clamp on the needle bar. When the driving arm is up the top pawl juts forward (red arrow). When the driving arm is down, the long pawl moves backwards (red arrow below). To switch to straight stitching, the lever is pressed into the side of the attachment (red arrow below) when the driving arm is down (green arrow below) to protect the pawls from being damaged. The lever swings a metal wedge between the pawls (red arrow) to disengage the zigzag mechanism. The pawls are in the correct position to be disengaged by the wedge when the driving arm is in the down position Pressing the lever into the side of the attachment prematurely, before the driving arm is in the down position, can bend, break or misalign the pawls permanently.~~~Like my comments?
