Description: VINTAGE Native American Seri Mexico Small Oval Hand Woven Basket Tray Dish This is am AMAZING VINTAGE Seri hand woven small oval basket. The basket was bought in the late 1970s in New Mexico. It has been sitting in a china cabinet ever since. It was used to hold small glass figurines for many years. This basket is a perfect example of Seri artistry. The Seri are an indigenous native people from the Sonora state of northern Mexico. It is still very tightly woven and the straws are in excellent shape. It is on the small size; 7 inches long and 5.25 inches wide. It is about 1.75 inches deep. It is in EXCELLENT VINTAGE CONDITION! There are a couple of stray straws on the inside (see last photo), but they are all attached and still tightly woven. It is very dusty, as I did not want to clean it after it was removed from the cabinet.
