Vintage Pair Portugal for Nora Fenton Handpainted Faience Candle Holders 8”

Description: Vintage Pair Portugal for Nora Fenton Handpainted Faience Candle Holders Here is a pair of beautifully and whimsically handpainted candle holders which are marked "Made in Portugal for Nora Fenton" with the number 261-18ZP and the painter's initials. The holders feature a large yellow-winged blue bird on the stem as well as a smaller bird, castle, and rabbit around the base. Interspersed and entwined around are floral motifs. This pair each has the same motifs, however the orientation is a bit different on each as would be expected with hand made items. These are ceramic pieces in the tradition of faience or majolica glazed pottery. The candle holders measure about 8" tall and about 4.75" in diameter at the base. The colors are very pretty and vibrant. The holders accommodate taper candles. This vintage pair is in excellent condition with no cracks or significant chips. One does have a very small glaze skip or chip on the top rim. Please see photo 14. The only other issue would be what looks like glue residue from missing felt pads on the bottoms. Please note that what may look like a chip on the base of each is actually a gap in the foot that was formed into the clay when made.
