Description: This sale features a 1935-A $1.00 Silver Certificate with Hawaii overprint.During World War II, the government issued currency with a brown seal for Hawai’i distribution (and currency with a yellow seal for North Africa distribution). The idea was that if either of these areas fell into enemy hands during the war, the money could be easily identified and cancelled so as to prevent large monetary losses. The Pictures shown - serial number Y 69132487 B - are of the exact item you will receive. This well-worn note from the rarer Y-B block (only 3,000,000 printed, as opposed to 15,000,000 S-C notes) of the 1935-A series has moderate to heavy rounding and wear on all 4 corners. There are 3 heavy vertical creases, along with lesser creases, folds, and wrinkles throughout. The bill is discolored from its use over the years, with extra darkening noted on and around the heavy creases. The edges are very rough with notches, tears, and small missing pieces, but none of the damage extends more than 1/4-inch into the bill. Beyond these imperfections, you have a decent old note with a bold brown seal and no holes. The bill will be shipped FREE by USPS First Class Mail in a protective plastic sleeve, surrounded by cardboard for extra protection.Good Luck and happy bidding!
