Description: This is a miniature version of a tsukubai (washbasin) found at the entrance to most Buddhist temples. Purpose is to purify yourself before entering by washing your hands and rinsing your mouth. This tsukubai comes with a bowl to fill with water, a bamboo mat, a bamboo ladle with handle and holder for the ladle and a little koi and seaweed for the bowl. This was a gift in Japan in 2001 and has never been used...like new in the original box. Bowl measures 4", bamboo mat 4.5" x 4.5". Nice, serene display piece with a story to tell.
