Description: Vintage KitchenAid Hobart H-5, 5 Qt. Stand Mixer - VIP Special Edition - XRARE; 100 to 105 years old. Used - Excellent Used Condition - Mixer was meticulously cleaned and polished prior to this listing. Original black factory paint finish and gold paint pin striping with original vintage Hobart decal all in tact and in incredible condition for its age; approximatley100 years old. There are some light chips and scratches in the paint and pin striping; normal with light and careful use over time. See all pictures. Original black electric cord is still clean, soft and pliable. The gear shifter handle is broken but I have the part see last two pictures; probably can be weld repaired but still functions and changes gears normally as it should. Mixer runs smooth and quiet see video. Tin plating on wire whip and bowl in excellent condition. Everything is super clean and ready for immediate food use or museum display. I was told that this special edition H-5 was made for a VIP person at Hobart. The special edition included factory black paint, gold pin striping, heavy duty black painted metal hub cap, nickel serial plate and vintage Hobart decal with the silver / gold wings. The standard H-5 by contrast came in white with red KitchenAid decal and I believe black pin striping and no hub cap. I don't the know the specific age of this H-5 but it is one of the older ones as it has two planetary posts; standard one for beater, whip, pastry knife and colander rollers that spins around as well as on its own axis (normal KitchenAid planetary spin) and a special second planetary post that only spins around for a special dough hook that looked like a thick coat hanger. This design style occurred from the mixer's inception in 1919 to the early 1920s. Later the H-5 was redesigned to include only one planetary post and the dough hook was redesigned to accommodate this change as well.
