Description: AUCTION DESCRIPTION: “Vintage Kilgore Toy Co. Toy Ranger Circle K Cap Pistol”** THE KILGORE MFG. COMPANY, WESTERVILLE OHIO 1912-1963 Circa: Mid 1950-1954 This is one of three toy cap guns that were mine as a child. Like most young boys back in the 1950’s it was totally normal for young boys to play “Cowboys and Indians or just good guy against bad guys. Bank robbers were quickly taken to jail thanks to the best good guy’s pistol handling. Times certainly have changed now with children kicked out of school for bringing water pistols to schools. I do not apologize for saying we were in much better times when boys were boys and girls were girls and no one feared a young boy with a toy cap pistol. This is another better made toy cap pistols of the times. This one was made of die cast gray metal or spelter(zinc & other soft metals) and was made to last longer than the plastic models of today. This cap gun still operates fine with a single action trigger and has the flip down barrel and cylinder combination that exposes the roll cap chamber. The words ‘Ranger.’ is in raised letters on each side below the cylinder. The pistol grips are ivory colored plastic with a raised red painted Cowboy with a over sized hat and a Circle K branding iron type logo above the Cowboy which I would say was for Kilgore. Both grips are well attached to the gun. The left grip is missing a small portion of the upper part that surrounds the circle K and the right grip is totally intact with no breaks. The pistol is completely original with no broken action parts and will fire caps if you so choose. The red Cowboy paint is thinning with normal wear from my use as a good guy Cowboy. The cap chamber and fold down barrel remain tight to the grip and hammer. The silver finish has some very mild wear but was not left out doors whereas the finish detreated very quickly if exposed to water for any length of time so this light wear still remains glossy. The pistol has not been cleaned or polished. I did put a little WD-40 on the hammer sleeve and trigger sleeve so its action is good. ---------------------------------------------------------- **In accordance with E-bay’s policy, this is a cap gun or pistol. It cannot fire, nor be made to fire any type of projectile. It is made to us rolls toy pistol caps and that is the only intended type of use** This is another hard to find working cap gun especially considering it is at least 65 years old and played with by myself and my son. Dimensions: 9.00” long, 4.25” high, 1.37 thickness at cylinder, 10 oz. weight Condition: Average but in working condition. Smooth trigger and hammer operation.
