Description: Hand Signed, Hand Carved Japanese Figure Netsuke of a Sword-bearing Warrior Monk, in Hardwood. It is beautifully detailed. Rich, Very Dark Brown (almost ebony), tightly grained wood. This courtly female figure kneels down to play her traditional stringed Chinese instrument, a pipa (lute-like), we believe. Figure is in Very Good to Excellent condition as we believe they were produced in the Mid 20th C. It comes from a collection from a retired USAF Colonel (Surgeon). Signature is on bottom, red on white dot, with additional carving on bottom as well. Great addition to your set of netsukes! This is a netsuke 'figurine', it has no holes. Figure measures approx. 2" Tall X 1 1/4" Wide X 1 1/2" Deep. Please carefully examine all images for condition. Check out other frame & artwork auctions. You never know what gems you might find!!!
