Description: Early 20th Century traveling folding backgammon, chess box, ca.1930-1950. Handmade from shellacked wood, bone and marbleized celluloid (to simulate mother of pearl.) Open, it measures almost 12 inches square. Folded it measures 12 inches by 6 inches by 2 inches thick. Contains incomplete set of backgammon playing pieces: pair of dice, 11 lights, 12 darks w/ 3 pieces from each color missing inlay bits. I included them because they came in the box. Backgammon can still be played with 2 different types of coins, ie. pennies & nickles, etc. Condition is vintage preowned & used, still very good considering its age. Note rusty latch & hinges and old shellac worn off exterior surface edges. See photos - my photos are an important part of my description. I have shown all photos necessary for you to make an informed decision. What you see is what you will be receiving. Any questions? Ask BEFORE purchasing. This is a NO RETURNS item.
