Description: You are bidding on a vintage (1940’s) rolling swivel chair/stool. This item bears no maker’s mark but was originally property of RCA Laboratories in Princeton, NJ. The date of manufacture is established by the inventory tag, as RCA Laboratories was established in 1942 and later renamed in 1951. RCA laboratories was responsible for developing radar-jamming systems and acoustical depth charges to combat submarines in WWII. After the war their focus turned to color television, lasers and advanced vacuum tubes, among other things which were the forerunners to today’s electronics. The upholstery on this stool/chair is in excellent condition and it rolls/swivels perfectly. The back support can be adjusted in 3 different positions from fully upright to slight recline (position of greatest recline pictured). The original user’s name can still be seen on the back of the lumbar support. This is a heavy-duty, quality-made piece. It will ship with the backrest removed (easily attached with 4 nuts and bolts) for packaging efficiency.
