Description: This is a very fine and rare example of Rajasthani craftsmanship of sikligars of jodhpur, Rajasthan. Sikligar is the community who made weapons for the royalty and decorated the arms and armors with gold silver and jewels. This is a very fine and a very rare example of zarnishan or tehtulla work performed predominantly in jodhpur, Rajasthan (Marwar)The base is iron and rare Silver Encrusted (Teh-tulla) Tulwar from jodhpur Rajasthan Teh-Tulla is when a gold or silver foil is hammered onto a cross-hatch or punched surface. This is more of an overlay art. You can feel the gold/silver on the objects. The pattern is embossed. Our example features a North Indian style hilt which is quite unusual for this type of sword. The hilt is of large and heavy construction with a thick grip section and the silver Teh-tulla design is in the form of flowers and vines with gold Kundan in the base. There are several examples of this art but our sword features gold background which is unique and rare on its own. The blade is a Shamsher or golly style blade made of wootz steel, there is a persian style tang to it and details are visible in the images, we have cleaned and restored the blade properly making all the patterns and Johar visible throughout the bladeThere seems to be some laddering as well on the blade which I have clicked and posted as well. This is a true fighting saver or sword and very well preserved blade as well Details are given as per my knowledge and dimensions are given in the imagesPlease look at the pictures carefully before purchasing Thank you
