Description: For your consideration is a nice, solid original example of a genuine first edition, stated 42nd printing of the 2nd favorite book of Americans (behind the Bible): Margaret Mitchell's "Gone with the Wind" in hardcover format. I don't have to speak of the story, but the book itself is an "honest" copy. For being over 80 years old, it is not a museum piece but is in better than average condition. Shelf wear on the edges as shown, but just enough for patina. There is some age related foxing, and the pages are printed on tradepaper (if you're running 40+ rounds of printing in 2 years I suppose you'll use whatever paper you can get). Overall though, no missing pages, no torn pages, and the minimal writing is in pencil, mostly just being inscribed to the original owner. No notes, no writing in the actual text pages. Binding is nice and tight! Even with the lower quality paper this binding has lasted a lifetime and will last another lifetime. Not something you can say about many modern printings. Really a genuinely readable piece of history being a first edition, yet having enough patina for any antique shelf and it certainly lets people know it's not something you just picked up at the Barnes and Noble.
