Description: German vintage "lead" tinsel, 55 cm long from 1982. In 1972 the use of lead for tinsel making was banned in the U.S. and began to phase out in Germany over the coming years. For quite some years tinsel was made using aluminum and other metals but today it's very difficult to find. Lead was often used to make the tinsel heavier but not always, so I can' say for certain wether this one contains lead or not as I purchased it in Germany and don't know how long they continued using lead. Please use your own judgement. When I was growing up we had to hang EACH strand individually so the ends were even and each strand placed just so. My mom was compulsive about not only the hanging but also the removal. Each strand laid out and folded over special holders she had made so that they would last for years! I have a bunch of unused tinsel up for sale, I have fourteen packs of this version. This particular version, I bought in 1982, hence the lead warning. Please see pics for condition details and I will gladly bundle items.
