Description: Vintage French Shadowbox, Three Dimensional Scene, Farmer’s House, Cat, Landscape, Chimney, Ave Maria, Jesus This charming vintage French painted wood shadowbox depicts the interior of a country house. A farmer, with his cat beside him, is seated in front of a fireplace where a stewpot heats on the fire. Green shutters are folded back to reveal an open window through which can be seen the countryside with fields and red poppies. A clock is suspended on the wall to the left of the window and below is a table with a carafe and a piece of bread. To the right side of the table a sack of flour rests on the floor and a panel above the window bears the inscription, “Ave Maria”. An image of Christ with a saint hangs to the left and plates are arranged on shelves around the fireplace. A bundle of sticks in on the far left hand side. At the top the ceiling beams are represented. This shadowbox is under glass with a handsome frame of carved dark wood with an inset of lighter burled wood. This piece is in very good condition with the exception of normal signs of age and use and will be an authentic French addition to your décor or to your collection.
