Description: This EXCELLENT very late 1950s through the 1960s Vintage Mallory Beaver Ten, Brown Fedora, size 7-1/8. We know the tag states size 7 but this was manufactured at a time when there was NO hat size standardization, read below. This is a perfect size 7-1/8! The color is Dark Brown. We don’t know why it doesn’t come out consistently but the picture of the whole underside is a best representation of the color. Stetson would have called this, “ Chocolate Brown”. Dating was easy! The fact that the liner has the newer “Mallory” that started in very late 1950s through the 1960s. Dad and Grandson steamed shaped a bit of a tune up, currently has been shaped into a pinched crown fedora because that Beaver Ten is so easy to work with! Be prepared to pay approximately $65-$80 though. The beaver is very very soft and thick. We took out dad’s collection of 1950 Stetson Beaver hat, 3X 10X, 15X, 20X and the TwentyFive. This best matches Beaver Ten perfectly. This was an everyday quality hat that could be an everyday hat. This is extremely soft and pliable and can easily steamed into any shape or style you desire. This is a VINTAGE Beaver Ten and It’s nothing like what you would compare to anything post 1970s. It’s just very soft and thick beaver, soft and thick and so easy to shape! Dad has quite a few of older 1960s dead stock ones he acquired from an old hat shop that went out of business. They sell for about $18 but if you decide you’d like one it will add $14 to the sale price. These are still all very elastic and can be sewn on by any decent tailor or just added as a decoration.
