Description: This is an empty can for Ethyloid Double Action Film Cement. Film cement was used on the old nitrate 35mm film stock to repair breaks. It was also used on acetate film stock until the advent of the splicer and splicing tape. This brand was introduced in the 1940's and was used through the 1950's. The can is in wonderful vintage condition. The red is rich and vibrant, and the print is largely unmarred. There is a crease that runs along the rim on the reverse, and a few dings and scratches on the piece. The lid is probably welded on by residual film cement, I did not try to open the can. What a great piece of motion picture projectionist history! Thanks for looking.
