The male portrait in charcoal by J.W.Ginsbury is of George Coles (1884–1963) English architect, known mostly as a designer of Art Deco cinema theatres in the 1920s and 1930s. This portrait was one of a continuing series by Ginsbury for a magazine. There is another example of a male portrait by Ginsbury in this same format in the National Portrait Gallery, London.
