VINTAGE DOUBLE EDGED DAGGER WITH SHEATH

Description: This is a very impressive old, large, heavy double edged dagger in sheath. This awesome dagger was definitely made to be carried and used as a weapon. It shows signs of being carried and used for a long time. Whoever made this massive dagger put a lot of quality workmanship time and effort into making it. The daggers blade is hand forged as well as the cross-guard. The skull crusher pommel is artfully executed and shows master craftsmanship. The leather wrapped grip is still in very good condition but has a slight line separation from shrinkage, time and age. The twisted grip wire is intact. The double edged blade is very solid and shows age and use but is straight. The scabbard has two hand-forged heavy chain loops for attaching to a belt. The scabbard leather wrapping is all intact but does have wear, marks and some slight line separation shrinkage from age and use. The scabbard fittings on the top and bottom of the sheath are tight and attached.The dagger fits nice and tight in the scabbard. This dagger was brought back from Europe after WWII. I do not know its age or origin but it has characteristics that remind me of Germanic daggers. The dagger measures: In the Scabbard approx. 19 inches long and Out of the Scabbard approx.18 inches long. The Blade measures approx. 11 3/4 inches long.
