Egyptian Revival statement jewelry such as this were a big thing in the fashion world during the late 1960s and early to mid 1970s. It's a little difficult to find information on Diorio's jewelry simply because the name is so close to Dior that search engines keep directing me that way. I believe this piece to most likely be a 1970s creation based on other listings of their jewelry. This is just truly a remarkable and high quality piece of fashion jewelry. It's bib style and certainly makes a statement. The chain is also rather unique. The scarabs look like stone but I think they are likely glass or glazed ceramic. Whatever they used, there is a glaze finish because you can see slight cracking in the glaze finish. This isn't a defect or a crack in the actual scarab, just something that happens with old glaze. The enamel is rich in color and intact, with slight defects such as a few chips or hairline cracks that occur with age. Overall the necklace is in excellent vintage condition. It's a little hard to measure the exact length because the pendant is wide and the chain is attached on the outer edges so the width of the pendant gets incorporated into the length. I'll list the lengths of the chain and the width of the space between where they are attached at the top of the pendant. The chain length is 8 inches on each side, and the pendant width at the top is 2 inches (measured from the inner sides of the chain) which makes the necklace fit like an 18 inch chain. However, the pendant is very large and long, so this bib style necklace takes up far more space. The pendant measured from the very top to the bottom of the dangles is 6.75 inches. The widest part of the pendant is 3.5 inches, unless you count all the dangles as one piece. The width then becomes 3.75 since these dangles extend a little bit beyond the sides. The necklace is plated in an antiqued gold finish or a bronze finish. This is such an outstanding piece of vintage fashion that words don't do it justice so be sure to examine all the photos and use the zoom feature for a better idea of details and condition, and I would be happy to answer any questions you might have. Shipping will be $6.50 USPS insured first class, and i would be more than willing to combine shipping. I don't offer a return policy, but... i will stand behind my listings. if i make a mistake on my listing, or i misunderstand an item or miss a relevant flaw on the items listed, i will do ANYTHING in my power to make things right for the buyer, so bid with confidence.
