Vintage Council Tool Co Axe / Hatchet w/ Sheath 18.5” / 2.9 lbs

Description: This listing is for a vintage Council Tool Co. hatchet or pack axe that is approximately 18.5 inches overall length and weighs in at 2.9 pounds total. This vintage made in the USA piece was a pawn shop find in need of a second chance in life. The head is marked USA on one side with the classic and iconic Council Tool logo on the other (see pictures). The head took a trip on the wire wheel to verify markings which took off the majority of red paint but leaving that classic vintage patina (see pictures). I was tempted to refine all edges of this pack axe and remove all factory file marks on the pole, top and bottom. The choice was made to leave everything the way it came to me and just put a quick edge on it. This axe is probably one the best feeling user pack axes I have owned. The fact that Council Tool Co did not refine their vintage tools because they were intended to be economy users, was the deciding factor. This accompanied with what I believe is the original handle is still solid on the piece (see pictures). The handle was sanded, stained and sealed with boiled linseed oil, coming out as one of my favorites I have re-finished in a long time. The sheath is a quick leather job that was left over from another project but fits (tightly / but securely). This piece is a excellent American user pack axe ready to be implement it into your bushcafting kit. Please refer to pictures for measurements and to judge conditions for yourself.
