You can store a trinket inside the large base box by lifting up from the large base box. Santa has a rubber face and his body is made out of cloth, felt and ribbon. There is wire in the arms. The music box rotates and plays Jingle Bells. The Sankyo music box is clear and works as designed. The black round base is made of wood with a Japan stamp.
