Description: This is a vintage pair of Carl Zeiss Jena military binoculars, or “Checkpoint Charlie’s”, made in East Germany during the NVA era. The binocular is equipped with a mechanism to enable an IR detector on the left eyepiece and a socket for the reticle illuminator device on the right side. The rubberized design provides a comfortable grip and the 7x maximum magnification allows for clear viewing. The objective lens diameter is 40mm. These binoculars are perfect for collectors or anyone interested in vintage military equipment. Condition is very good for their age. Both the eyepiece lenses and the focal lenses feature protective covers, with the eyepiece cover also incorporating a unique storage compartment for the optional green/yellow filter lenses (also included). These are my personal binoculars, which I purchased as military surplus, and have owned them for about 25 years. The binocular exterior does have a bit of dust on it, but in no way affects the quality. A thorough cleaning (though not necessary) would definitely enhance the beauty of these glasses. The lenses show no visible scratches or cloudiness. Own a piece of military history!
