Description: Sweet vintage planter made by Gilner Pottery, Culver City, California in the 1950's, about 8.5" long, 5" tall and 4" wide at the widest point. Dark green in color with a chartreuse colored pixie elf in the driver's seat. The piece has a nice shiny glaze, with light crazing, & a tiny chip on the nose of the locomotive - opposite side of the pixie elf - as shown in the photos. The locomotive is numbered 623 in raised letters on the doors of both sides of the locomotive and the piece is marked Gilner on the bottom. The locomotive has a front with a smiling side glancing face, and the pixie elf has fine hand painted features. The planter has no residue inside, so it appears never have been used for planting. This would be great for display or to use as a planter for an air plant or succulent.
