Insides are clean. The largest canister shows some rust around lip. This set also includes as BONUS a wooden handle Brownwell sifter! The screen part has 2 small holes. So could work but I would use for display purposes only. So you will get 3 canisters and one sifter! As with any vintage items - they will show wear. Make sure you love them before you buy them.
