Description: Program from the 1934 All-Star Game held on July 10th at the Polo Grounds in New York. It was in this game, only the second in All-Star history, that Carl Hubbell entered the annals of baseball lore by striking out, in succession, five of the greatest sluggers in baseball history: Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, Al Simmons, and Joe Cronin. Despite Hubbell's performance, the American League battled back from a 4-0 deficit to eventually defeat their National League rivals 9-7. Just as the Chicago White Sox did when hosting the inaugural All-Star Game in 1933, the Giants chose to issue the club's regular season scorecard for use in the second-annual mid summer classic, with only the preprinted lineups evidence of its All-Star Game provenance. The eight-page program (6.5 x 10 inches) has been scored in pencil. It has a split spine that is separated and each page is almost separated.
