Description: This is a nice Vietnam War U.S. M1 Helmet w/Mitchell Camouflaged cover that is in very good battle worn condition. The helmet shell is without dents or damage. It is complete with both clip-on canvas chin straps and T1 black finished buckles at the ends that are fastened at the rear of the helmet. The heat temper number is illegible. The Mitchell pattern cover is fitted over the shell with the green side out. The brown side is marked, ‘COVER HELMET CAMOUFLAGE, DSA 100-73-F-U289 LOT 5, MNPLS SOC F/T BLIND INC., LOT 01’ dating it to 1973. The liner is Korean War type and has seen heavy field use. The liner band is partially worn through in several places and one sweatband clip is missing and one is broken. The leather sweatband is darkened from field use and is with markings, but they are completely faded out and cannot be read. Handwritten on old masking tape on the right side of the liner is the owner’s name ‘David S. Schrich’. The masking tape is applied over another name that is painted in in white paint beneath it. The original elastic helmet band holds the cover tightly in place on the shell. It remains honest veteran that saw much use in the jungles of Vietnam and one that remains in very good combat used condition. 9076
