The movement of the bottom half of the dial, the rotating wheel at the bottom, and the clock hands all work flawlessly. All lights work on the clock, and the sound is loud and clear. Volume can be adjusted on the back. This clock has a light sensor that prevents it from chiming in the hour in the dark, or this function can be disabled with a switch on the back and the clock can be activated by the button at the bottom of the unit instead. Takes 4 D batteries and 1 AA battery. This was one of seiko’s most popular and best selling models in the early 2000’s in the US (QXM111GRH) and in Japan (RE549G).
