Description: Here is a Royal Copenhagen Blue Fluted Plain Teapot with Lid. Note: On the lid, the attached 'pin' that would help the lid in place has been broken off. This is EXTREMELY rare and special piece. The shape is very distinctive, with its egg like pot, the dramatic long spout, and the footed base. The decorations at the base of the spout and on the handle are very special. The elegant pointed spout pours beautifully. This teapot is unnumbered but has same shape and size as number 1/375. It is the larger of the two sizes of teapot with this distinctive design (1/374 being the smaller). The piece is factory first quality, made and hand painted in Denmark in the period 1984-1900. The pot and lid were both expertly painted by painter number 20. Overall the piece is in very good condition, particularly consider its rarity and age. The teapot base is in excellent condition with no apparent damages, no chips cracks or repairs. There is a firing crack / irregularity in the glaze at the bottom inside of the handle. This occurred in factory production, and is only at the surface, as shown in photos 8-10. There is a slight glaze unevenness in the inside lip of the spout, also from factory production. The 'pin' in the lid that would help keep the lid in place has been broken off. See photos 9 and 10. This is a pretty clean break, with no cracks, and I think it could have even been intentional. This damage is not visible when the lid is in place and there are no cracks or other damage to the lid. There may be other small firing marks / normal discrete irregularities from factory production in the glaze / on the surface of the teapot and its lid. The teapot measures approximately 8 1/2 inches from handle to spout, and approximately 7 1/4 inches tall including its lid. The capacity is about 4-4.5 cups. Please examine the photos and reach out with any questions! Carefully packaged in non-smoking, no pets household, and shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
